Do
- Commit to a regular Walking practice. Put it on your calendar.
- (Probably the most effective choice is devote one regular day a week to going on a Walk. It is also recommended to spend at least five minutes sat outside daily.)
- Re-read the Walking essays throughout the week. Note any ideas.
- Extension: look up Mindfulness exercises, and practice once per day. Bring your attention especially to what you can hear, see, smell and touch.
- Extension: Walking is about experiencing sensory abundance. Reflect on your current self-care habits: could you focus on sleep, food, time with your loved ones, or another area where you are rushed or limited?
Reflect
- What organisational systems and routines have worked well for you in the past? Self-study starts with a good foundation!
- The Practices teach our values. What lessons and values have you discovered in Walking?
- What does Walking bring up for you - aside from what I've described. What other ideas, possibilities and interrelations can you find in it?
- What Lore do you know in which Walking is a prominent part? Lore could be myths, stories, films or songs which put you in a Pagan mood.
Test
Attempt by memory, then look up if you found remembering it difficult. If you like writing, answer in your own words in your Mirror Book or blog. You have passed the test when you can answer these questions by memory (unless memory is a particular challenge for you, in which case set a test you can meet)
- What is Walking?
- What is the purpose(s) of going for a Walk?
- List 5 ways of “Walking” which do not actually include a walk
- Using the booklet, make a list of keywords associated with the Solar
