The Commonplace Book

The Commonplace Book is a collection of fragments discovered by reading. It has the character of a holy book - a sacred object in its own right, that can be read as a devotional or meditation, or when you wish to do something magical but need to sit down. It can also be used to find bits to build ritual around. You can learn more here and then here.

Maintaining the Book is, I confess, a tiring and thankless exercise. Updates to the webpage will be running a long time behind my own notes. If you have a commonplace collection online, I'd love to link to it.

This webpage is created by a program - if you want to search or download the book itself, use this file, as this webpage is but a hollow shell. The data is in .json format.

Notes for me on where I am with this!

To do:

  • There is a missing quote in the Wild Places section of my CB. Additionally, i think i never finished transferring notes from this book.
  • transfer from old website - look at drafts.
  • Work through ebook readers, using an import trick.
  • Checking tags and bgs on pages, start from Lightbringer (working through by index order).
  • Stop writing quotes into my physical CB in random order, so I can maintain updating the site more easily.

Complete:

  • home and documents folder
  • all loose txt files to cherrytree
  • transferring Commonplace Book 2 from cherrytree - useful stuff is in there, but nothing else that needs transferring right now, it's an assorted mess.
  • all commonplace sections on the old website (there may be some still hiding)
