Group Practice
Fencraft is designed as solitary-first, and adapted for Covens - not the other way around. For this reason, ensure you are following the Three Practices on your own as well as in a group. You are seeking a personal experience of the Landweird, for which silent rambles and contemplation is essential.
The Three Practices form a helpful “core” for Moots. The mutability of Fencraft means Coveners will very frequently develop personal and ideosyncratic practices - we do not have one Goddess. However, you can still come together as a community to follow the Practices together, to give your time some framework. Here are some ideas:
Reading
Telling stories and sharing songs is a central part of our lore
- Have a group lending library. Make a Reading List together.
- Screen films in place of sermons at mootings.
- Run “book club” meetings to discuss certain texts
- Have readings from texts read or performed at mootings
- Prepare a talk or lesson to teach to others
- Play and sing songs together
Walking
The easiest and best, as the Sun calls us to acts of community.
- Camp or hike together
- Go on a group pilgrimage to a local or distant holy site.
- Bake a large meal, or have a picnic
- Volunteer together. Club together to support a member in need.
- Teach a craft skill. Make things for others in the group.
Disconnection
Interdependence is vital to isolated communities.
- Meet up on Disconnection Days. Play music, read out loud, play games, stave off boredom/
- Jointly take an allotment, and communally work to raise food together.
- Begin a car pool. Make a lending library of your tools instead of buying new.
- Commit to telephoning and writing one another, instead of using the web.
